Important News
Direct Debit Contributions. It’s finally
here! Call the church office for details on how
to set up a direct debit to your bank
account for your church offerings.
Complete the Authorization Agreement for Direct
Payments to HBC and there will be no more
forgetting checks or envelopes at home! Easier
than 1-2-3! Sign up today!
Flowers for the Homebound. There
is a new ministry opportunity at HBC. Can you commit to arranging flowers
or delivering a few small flower arrangements one Monday a month? Sign up
in the church office to ba a part of the Flowers for the Homebound
ministry.
Farm Fresh ABC's for Belize. We
are collecting ABC Farm Fresh receipts from now until June 1, 2008. The
Farm Fresh ABC points will be used to purchase Bibles and school items for
Belize. A collection envelope is on the Belize bulletin board in the back
hallway. Any questions can be directed to Sidney Jordan or Dawn Gerbing.
Keep Connected. Do you
often find yourself at the office wishing you had your Church Directory?
Do you reach for your Church Directory at home
only to find your spouse/child has misplaced it AGAIN?!! Did you
have to leave town quickly—on business or because of a natural
disaster—and you forgot your directory? You have
options now! Sign up for a username in order to access our Automated
Church Systems (ACS) church membership database
from anywhere in the world! The information available
is a little bit more than your Church Directory contains—members’
names, addresses, birthdays, family members’
names, and Sunday School classes. To sign up for a username and
password, call the church office after October 15.
Media Library. The "Give and Take" book
exchange is a big hit. Why not come and check it out? There is something for
everyone. Give a book to share and take a book to read - no checking out or in.
These books are on a BIG RED cart in the
library. If
you have paperback fiction (or not) that you would like to contribute to get
us started with a good supply of books just bring them by the library on
Sunday or Wednesday. (No Harlequin or Silhouette romance novels, please.)
The library will be open every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening and other
times for regular programs such as Monday Morning Manna and Sunday Night
Live. There will be someone from the Media Library staff to assist everyone when
the Center is open. If you need to enter the library at other times you may
sign the key out in the church office and when you are finished, return it
to the office. No items may be checked out unless a staff member is present.
We have more than 4,600 items ready
for circulation. Many of these are new books. We are excited about our new
children’s books, Bible study materials, and general works. If you are a
reader we have something for you. We also have CDs, DVDs, books on tape, VHS tapes,
and worship services on DVD.
YCC News. Do you want to be “CC’d” on
YCC? That’s Your Church Community! Many of you have enjoyed
being on our email prayer chain, and you know the importance of
being connected. In an effort to keep you better
connected, we’ve created a weekly information chain. If
you are already on the prayer chain, you will automatically start
receiving the “YCC News” once a week in September. If you wish not to be
on the YCC, you may opt out at any time. Your monthly newsletter is now on
this website. You can also sign up to receive the electronic edition of
Our Church each month via email! Call the church office to help
HBC save money on postage by receiving your newsletter in pdf format via
email! All you need to see it is Adobe Reader which is probably already on
your computer. If not, you can get it here:

Homebound Visitation Board.
We now have a board on which to record visits to our members who cannot
attend church regularly. It is mounted on the wall next to the water
fountain just outside the church office. Everyone (individuals, WMU, Sunday
School, Deacons, staff) is asked to place a check mark on this board when a
visit has been made. The purpose is to ensure that all of these members are
visited regularly, and that no one is forgotten. Add a name to the board
when appropriate.
Kitchen Use Rules. The
kitchen is available to church members and groups for functions. However, it
is the responsibility of those people using the facility to clean up after
each use so the kitchen is ready for the next function. If you use the
kitchen please complete the following tasks before leaving: take the trash
out (dont stack the bags at the back door), wipe down all surface areas,
sweep and mop the floor, and make sure the oven and surface burners are
turned off. Thank you for your assistance in keeping our newly remodeled
kitchen clean and in good condition for all to enjoy. Please contact Robert
Hudson, 851-7524, with questions.
